Pirates, Tea Parties and Baby Dolls
Yes, there is a pirate living in our house. Pirate R has a plastic sword and walks around saying "argh!" and "Walk the Plank!" and "Shiver me timbers!" B Loves that she isn't totally princess and pink but does note that little girls playing pirates is MUCH different that little boys playing pirates. Littles girls are all about the costumes and the sword. Not much poking and and stabbing with instruments of death...thank goodness.
Pirate R's younger partner in crime, however is more about babies. She rocks and them and wraps them up in blankets and feeds then with bottles or spoons. She showers them with kisses and hugs and then drops them on their heads while trying to keep up with big sister. B keeps offering her trucks and cars, but I does not waiver in her never ending devotion to her babies. She does like to wreck big sister's train track and knock over towers made of blocks or leggos...and nothing serves as a better distraction than a good round of chase. Must learn to run before chase becomes more than giggling and falling down, though.
And then there are the daily tea parties. All the cups are dumped out of the box. The stove is set up and the tea pot is set on the burner (next to I's bum as the stove also serves as a very good chair for short legs). Tea is poured and everyone gets to pick a flavor of ice cream. Sometimes there are short breaks for dancing to favorite songs or wrapping babies in blankets. Sometimes everyone must put on lipstick ("YOU NEED LIPSTICK, MOMMY, IT MAKES YOU FEEL PRETTY!") Othertimes the meals are more elaborate with noodles, vegetables, and fruit. Tea parties almost always end in tickling and giggling so hard you have to run to the potty...
